Greetings All -
It has been a busy year so far for the SDDHA. We recently met for Semi Annual Sessions in Chamberlain, SD and it proved to be a very educational event. We conducted our official board meeting on that Friday evening and discussed our strategic plan as well as associated goals for the 2019 - 2020 year. Currently we are prepping for upcoming meetings among our District VII team in order to prepare for our ADHA Annual Session in June of 2020. We have a very motivated SDDHA board and are always looking to add members to our team. If you are interested in any future position on our board, please reach out accordingly and we will answer any questions you may have or provide you with information in this regard. The SDDHA is committed to growth and development of the dental hygiene field at both the state and national levels. Thank you for your continued support of our board!

SDDHA hosted Semi Annual Sessions on September 28, 2019 in Chamberlain, South Dakota. SDDHA was fortunate to have Anne Nugent Guignon, RDH, MPH, CPS speak at the event. She spoke about reducing aches and pains during the day, dry mouth syndrome, and navigating the temping world. The event was sponsored by Orascoptics, Crown Seating, Colgate, and Waterpik. A Crown Seating Modified English QAC Saddle designed by Ann was raffled off. Congratulations to our winner Hailey Bruggeman!
Anne is excited to come speak to us again at Annual Sessions in May 2020! Anne Nugent Guignon, RDH, MPH, CSP is internaBonally recognized for her numerous contribuBons to dental hygiene and denBstry over the last four decades. She is a practicing clinician, columnist, feature writer and Senior Consulting Editor for RDH Magazine and has authored textbook chapters on ergonomics and power driven scaling. Anne has been involved in the development and testing for a wide range of clinical products and equipment. She holds an adjunct faculty position at the University of Texas Dental School and was honored as the 2004 Philips RDH Mentor of the Year, received the 2009 ADHA Colgate Irene Newman Award, recognized in 2012 as one of the Top 25 Women in Dentistry by Dental Products Report, received the 2016 RDH Magazine Reader’s Choice Most Effective Educator Award and nominated for the 2013 CNN Home Town Heroes Award. In 2015 Anne was awarded the National Speakers Association Certified Speaking Professional Credential, the highest earned designation for professional speakers.
Exciting News!
We are proud to announce that our President, Tia Meyer, has been selected to represent District VII and South Dakota at the Unleashing Your Potential (UYP) in November in Chicago, Illinois! She was one of five women selected from District VII and is the only member from South Dakota to be selected. We are so proud of you, Tia! Congratulations!
Exciting times in the Black Hills!
October has been a fun and busy month in the Black Hills! On October 4th SDDHA held a hygienist appreciation event at Prairie Berry Winery, followed by a Collaborative Supervision continuing education course featuring Amy Ericks, Leslie Gregor, and Pat Alyward. Everyone who attended was gifted a bottle of wine. SDDHA was also involved in a CE event with Dakota Regional Periodontics and Dental Implants in Rapid City. Thank you for inviting us to be apart of it! A Rush Hockey prize package was raffled off. Congratulations to the winner, Abby Schiley!

May 14th - 16th, 2020 is Annual Sessions in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Stay tuned for more information on continuing education information! We hope to see you there!
